How much do we love our earth?

A huge problem with this world is humans. We are destroying our home, and to make matters worse most of us couldn’t care less about it. In the past 40 years this planet has lost over 50% of its wildlife (Monbiot, 2014). This includes mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. This destruction is happening at an extreme speed with no obstacles ahead (Milman, 2015).  We are polluting the air, contaminating our agriculture and our drinking water, polluting the oceans, and destroying forests and jungles all over the globe. The whole situation is immensely sickening and disappointing. What is wrong with mankind?

At this point, I’m sure you are thinking, who is really to blame. George Monbiot (2014) tells us that the destruction of this earth is not on the hands of the average-working citizens. We have been brainwashed by corporate America, and our worldly leaders. That’s right that 1% of billionaires and “masters of the universe” are to blame for all this devastation. The fact is that these people tell us we NEED material items. Humans are obsessed with buying things, and I don’t mean food and water. Our planet is being destroyed by mankind’s inventions. As soon as something new comes along we trash the old product, and add to the pollution. These companies produce these products in anyway they see fit, even if that means destroying the environment and rapping the world of its natural resources. It all comes down to money. Not to mention the over use of natural resources that these billionaires consume in their everyday lives. If you are wealthy, droughts and shortages don’t mean a thing.

The solution to this problem is to clean up our act. We need to eliminate our use of chemicals, and somehow dispose of our current waste. Laws need to be set forcing business to be green, and clean up all the waste they have created over the years.

This is a good fix because it will force us to create our products out of natural materials. We will also be forced to recycle EVERYTHING we use. I believe this will be our future, as technology will actually help us become greener. With the creation of digital technology comes the elimination of physical materials. One devise controls everything. In addition, this solution will also force us to clean our oceans and trash on land. That could mean, more jobs. We need workers to clean the earth.

This could be a bad fix, as it would change our way of life completely. We may not be able to build and create everything we want. We are a materialistic world, so this will be a huge challenge to overcome. Businesses will also fight these laws as America grants them the right to run their business however they see fit.

So my question is when will we stand up for those who cant speak for themselves? Plants and animals have rights, and Mother Nature is screaming for help. Let us change today, and fight for what is right!
